Eating in Florence

Florence or Firenze as Italians know it, is of course full of history and beauty.

On a recent visit which was marred by rain - never mind history or beauty all we wanted was some good food to eat when we were given time by our tour guide. On a search of menus, this one had no pizza on the menu.

An Italian restaurant in the middle of a tourist area with no pizza in the menu has to have two things going for itself - good cooking and great confidence. Turns out they had oodles of both.

Casa Toscana http://www.trattoriacasatoscana.it/home_eng.html great food, great service, very reasonable prices, friendly staff.

I was vegetarian for the day which limits my choice and yet the bruschetta al pommodoro e basilico, tagliatelle with mushrooms, pana cotta (with chocolate sauce), tiramisu ending with espresso were simply supreme

We went to Firenze with the aim of seeing some history - it was so enjoyable we ended up tasting history as well.
